With a phonetic charm in its name, Nasi Tempong translates to a lively mix of rice served with an array of enticing fried dishes, making it a must-visit spot for anyone craving genuine Balinese cuisine.
The restaurant shines with its hallmark dish: a generous serving of steamed rice accompanied by a selection of fried proteins such as tofu, tempe, and chicken. “ This restaurant has always been packed since forever. Good thing they're spacious and have a lot of seats. But it can get pretty hot since it's an open space and they have this concept of one big table where you share with strangers. So, it might not be the most comfortable place to sit around after you're done eating. But their sambal is the bomb! It's super spicy and tasty. I tried the sea fish this time, the fried kerapu. For only around 50K, it's a steal! The food was good and worth the price, especially with that sambal. ”
“ So good that we repeated eating at this place and even take away to eat in our hotel. The sambal are so good. Spicy but in a good way. If you eat spicy food, this is one of the place. I love it. ”
“ this place has many outlets, and this one is near the airport, located near the main street so it's easy to reach. they have different kinds of protein, from chicken to fish. my favorite is the original fried chicken. it comes with fried tempeh, fried tofu, steamed vegetables, and chili sambal. i really like the sambal because it also has the sour from the tomato and lime. people consider the sambal to be super spicy, but i can handle it well. i can finish the whole portion of the sambal. it goes so good with the protein, vegetables, and rice. what i don't like the most is the service. the staffers are forgetful of our orders. we need to keep reminding them every so often about our order. they take quite a while to serve the food. sometimes, they don't bring the right food. it's quite annoying. ”
“ We ordered via grab food. So we didn't know that the grilled chicken is coated with the spicy sambal. So beware. Those who can't spicy, best to stick with fried chicken set. It came with rice, tofu, tempe & different kinds of vegetables (ulam, cucumber & aubergine) and a small tub of sambal. It was good, just too spicy. The service was fast but we had to wait for the grab driver to accept delivery. The restaurant was kind enough to accommodate when we called the restaurant directly. ”
“ I had the Ayam Bakar and it was delicious. Bear in mind that the Nasi Tempong sambal is really spicy. They will have separated the sambal upon serving so try just a little bit of it first and decide for yourself. Squeezing the lime juice into the sambal elevates the whole experience. I would highly recommend eating here. The portion is also quite big for one person so you’d definitely leave feeling satisfied and full ”
“ Its a rice with variant of fried stuff like tofu, tempe and chicken/wish that you can choose. We ordered the chicken. Tasted like normal indonesian style fried chicken, but beware, the sambal is very spicy. Its good if you like really spicy food though ”
“ I came here for dinner, and it was quite packed. Luckily, we were first on the waiting list and got a table after about 10 minutes. Ordering is simple, they give you a piece of paper with the menu items, and you just tick off what you want. Due to the large number of takeaway orders, we had to wait another 30 minutes for our food. But with so many locals dining in and the long queues, it felt like a good sign that the food would be worth it. We ordered the fried fish and fried chicken meals, and the highlight was definitely their sambal, the best I’ve had so far. It pairs perfectly with fried food and even just rice. It’s quite spicy, so keep that in mind if you don’t handle spice well. The prices are reasonable, and overall, it’s worth trying. I’d definitely go again. ”
